Bio
"You're really just a country girl at heart." This description has been used to describe Tiffini many times. It's pretty close to the truth, too. Though she lives in a major city, she walks barefoot unless, as she puts it, "there's a sign saying 'no shoes, no service," (she even rides horses barefoot when given the opportunity), and while she will listen to any genre of music, the one that touches her the most is country. She prefers a Thoreau-like cabin existence to the hustle of suburban life (though she admits it wouldn't be anywhere near as quiet as in Thoreau, because the one thing she's incapable of living without is her children). She's generally quiet, but has the drive to complete the impossible.
Born on October 1, 1980, in Memphis, Tennessee, Tiffini lived an unusual childhood, traveling the country with many unique experiences but the greatest gift of her youth was developing an extrememly close bond with her mother and younger sister, Stephini, to whom Tiffini remembers telling stories too when they were young as a way of helping lull Stephini to sleep. She's always loved books, and began writing very early. Her mother says that Tiffini was constantly asking for new paper: by the time she was in high schools, her novels had graduated to being over 1000 hand-written pages long and, by the time she entered college, she had written over 100 novels, young adult and children's books.
A firm believer in Freud's teaching that the foundation of who we are is formed by age 3, Tiffini uses her childhood to draw the remarkable, often young, heroines for her novels which often focus on childhood traumas. Her ability to portray emotional events in her novels is, she hopes, one of her greatest assets as a writer. She wishes to write books that are not fairy tales but stories that will 'dare people to wake up' and use their influence for change.
When she's not playiing with her daughter, working with troubled children or writing, Tiffini also loves cooking, theater, reading, singing (though she can't aspire to win "American Idol") and conversations. She also has had a life-long love of the mailman.
